Description:

Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference (SDPC), an interdenominational faith based nonprofit organization that serves African American churches, is implementing a three-year grant for its Thriving in Ministry Initiative program. This effort will provide African American pastors with peer mentoring and an online resourcing hub for leadership development. Building on and expanding a successful model that helps pastors share wisdom across generations, the program is establishing peer mentoring opportunities for pastors, recognizing that pastors can learn from those both more and less experienced than themselves. The online resource center will feature leadership development resources that are interdisciplinary in character and previously unavailable to SDPC’s constituencies. The organization also will expand its fundraising activities and solicit contributions from its partners and constituents with the goal to establish stronger philanthropic networks within and for African American faith communities. To sustain this work, SDPC will partner with its seminary partners and the Association of Black Foundation Executives and African American Leadership engaged philanthropy.
